This phrase uses the sentence “all cats are beautiful” as a form of protest against those in power, expressed through the police. This actually originated around the 1940s in England, when the British police force acted repressively against coal miners. In the 1970s, the term ACAB became a symbol of resistance within the punk and skinhead subculture movements.

I created this work in 2018 for an invitation to a cat-themed exhibition in Berlin, initiated by a stencil artist based in the city.
